tenons/lugs on thin barrel
« on: January 30, 2024, 01:07:48 AM »
I was lucky to find a .50 Getz 42inch B weight swamped golden age profile barrel. planning 4 tenons /lugs.   The two on each end should be normal cut dovetails and fit, but the two towards the center might be a problem.   The question is should I cut normal dovetails or shallow ones and solder?  all dovetails will be hand cut and filed. Has anyone else used this barrel for their build?

I did the dovetail and solder thing on my thin round barrel. The dovetail isn’t very deep but holds tight. Though I haven’t done any soldering in forever, it’s not hard to do, and does the trick.

I would solder plenty strong and you won't ruin your barrel been there done that
