I used tires on a different range once. It worked great for stopping the bullets, but the tires also stoped the rain. The mosquitoes were unbearable down there.

I like the old man set up.  Looks like the only thing missing is your hot plate to brew your coffee and a lazyboy recliner.  Us old guys need our naps. ;D ;D

Here's the "Old Man Blind" I tested and used up in Fort St. John at a friend's farm. It is set up on a field roughly 100yards square. Normally oats is planted, sometimes peas.
The targets are set at 50, 75 and 100yards.
It is insulated and has a propane heater. It also has a camo-cloth screen to pull across the front of the 'blind' to prevent animals from seeing into it. With the windowless back door
closed, it's pitch black inside.

please ask me a question.  Would shooting from inside a house like this reduce the sound of the gunshots, so as not to disturb the neighbors?  Or at least alleviate it?

The muzzle sticks out just past the edge of the window, so no, no quietening of the shot.

We just have large ~6' tall x 20' wide mounds of soil at each target interval [7, 25, 50, 100 & 150 yards]. The shooting range is facing a hillside. Little chance of overshooting dangers. As needed, we sift the soil to recover the lead and rebuild the soil mounds.
Initial construction took some time and effort but the range is pushing 40 years old now with only minor repairs needed.

Check this out, I got it years ago from my father-in-law (may he rest in peace).

I have used it for low power loads, and cartridge guns to .38 spl +/-

bullets swirl through it and drop in a catch tank.
