What kind of spring

A long time ago 50+ years my Dad took the spring out so as to not get damage by dry firing. Does anybody know what type this is and where I might find a picture and/or spring for this?

It'll be kind of like this:
They aren't all the same. If you find someone with a good selection of springs and parts from original locks, they might have something that fits or can be modified to fit. If not, one of the gunsmiths that does lock work can make a spring that would work.

I think Cabin Creek could make one for you.

Try Dixie gun works, they have a large assortment of springs. A heads up, you'll need a spring for a percussion lock with a stirrup in the tumbler.
