Rifle or fowler? Check out Schipper's book on engraving!!
Here's a lefty on a Chambers' PA fowler/rifle for a friend down south.
...another PA Fowler for a friend up north...
Click twice on image for enlargement.

Art is not an object. It is the excitement inspired by the object.

The lock is Germanic in styling then. Most imported Germanic locks were plain. Look at the Marshall rifle and the Fessler rifle also known as the Musicians rifle. Search the internet for “original Marshall flintlock rifle” if you don’t have the books. Search “Musicians flintlock rifle”.
Look at Dave Person’s re-creation of the Marshall rifle here.
