H. G. Newcomb rifle

The remnants of this double keyed plains rifle has some seldom seen markings, H. G. NEWCOMB NATCHEZ.  Newcomb may have been a merchant.  He was listed in a directory as an agent for H. Deringer in 1860.  I have done a lot of research on this type of rifle and came to the conclusion that many of them were actually made in New York by a large gun making factory and they, or the merchant, stamped the store’s name on the barrel. I’ve seen this on Missouri rifles and as far away as Texas. The only other Natchez marked rifle I am aware of is Odell.  I plan to try to find a lock that fits and otherwise leave it as it is.

Chris , are there any numbers on the end of the barrel ?
