First pistol in 10+ years
« on: May 22, 2024, 01:52:21 AM »
Found a bunch of parts in drawers, and thought I would build a pistol for a very good friend.

What are the odds? I drilled the trigger pin, hit the wood in one of the wood windows, and of course, it chipped out. Now started shaping, and gotta fix that chip out.

I see you fit the trigger guard and plate on before installing the trigger, or am I mistaken? I had not seen it done that way before.
P.S; that’s a beautiful barrel!!

Bob,
No, these are just some random shots, no particular order.
The trigger was inlet right after the lock, before the guard.

I think you are going to have a right fine pistol when you get it finished.  Great start!

Thanks Curtis.
This one has been a real challenge. Web is only 1/16” . Front under lug had to be machined and soldered in. ( No room for the base of the lug.
Still can’t believe that trigger pin hit where it did.

Well, I fixed the tear out,AND developed another while inletting the first one, so I fixed it as well. Both came out pretty well.
Tomorrow I should have photos of final shaping before stain. Got a small area of that’s binding in the lock, so I need to fix that, and on to stain and finish.

Very good, it's as close to perfect as any I have seen. I'm always nervous when handling a perfect piece. Most of my stuff is just good enough. My wife on the other hand is a perfectionist in everything she does, drives me up the wall.

Well dang, smallpatch!  That's nothing to cry about!  ;D  It's a very nice looking pistol you finished up there!  Glad to see the final product.
