Antique axe

I saw this at a local antique shop. I wish somebody hadn’t spot welded it. Nice size and definitely hand forged. Feels like about a 2 pound head. Your impressions on date and origin?

Nice find. The construction looks 18th century. Maybe a felling axe?

The head is wrought iron and the edge is steel.
