Graf's brand powder is $25.60 per pound. If you order four pounds no hazmat charge, if you order 6 pounds no hazmat and no shipping charge. Still sale tax though. The only place near me that sells Black powder wants $38.95 before sales tax. It is either Swiss or Shuetzen, I can't remember.  Still no Goex available around here. I shot some Shuetzen this morning with great success. 5 shots in an inch and 3 quarters at 50 yards with 60 grains pushing a .490 home cast roundball. My final purchase price was $27.14 per pound. PA has a 6% sales tax.

Swiss was $32 a pound at Friendship. It’s all I’ve been using for a few years so I didn’t check on GOEX or Scheutzen.

I've shot muzzleloaders since 1970, but currently shoot BPCR mostly.  I've used Goex Ole E, Regular Goes and Swiss.  I've seen little difference in the 3 brands.  I'm using my same sight settings for years now regardless of the brand and they all shoot well.  Due to price increases I shoot whatever is available and cheapest.  Haven't seen a difference in my scores or performance in velocity.  I've shoot all three in practice and they all hit the silhouette target without changing sight settings.

Schuetzen powder is good powder, and that is what Graf's is. It is made by Wano in Germany. Somewhere in the fine print on the container it should state that.
I bought the new Goex at Friendship and I'm looking forward to comparing it with the old Goex. It was running $7.00 less than Swiss.

5# Swiss and 3 Schuetzen ended up right at $300 delivered,  but you can shoot a lot with that amount of powder.

 I would say either way somebodies paying that Hazmat fee, or they’re shipping powder in a packages labeled ‘“Chicken Scratch”. I don’t think it their call whether to  charge a Hazmat fee or not, they’re just passing the it on to the customer.

That works out to $42.00 a lb. Hmm!

Yes. Swiss is $39, Schuetzen is $27 and sales tax came out to $23.  Hazmat is usually $25 and shipping $12 so 'savings' of $37. Ludicrous prices for what it is, but I guess it is what it is.  Schuetzen is $55 a pound locally plus tax at 8.25% and they only have a couple pounds at a time.

Guess those 2 cases of Goex 3F I got at $18.00/pound a couple of years ago that I still haven't opened was a good idea after all.

I’m still using what I paid $11 for. I think it will last me a lifetime. For me that’s not really that long.
