I was asked to post picture of my jug choking tool.

Thanks for sharing. I’d like to know how one uses it and manages to get it in and out and expanded while keeping the bore size unchanged at the muzzle and further down the bore.

Rich, Put the wooden shim to the top of the ramp. Insert tool in bore till pin rests on muzzle. Tap wood shim down the ramp and that will expand the tool. Turn the tool till tool it loosens up, and tap the wooden shim again, and turn again. Use plenty of cutting oil. Tap the shim up to remove the tool. The wood shim rides on the muzzle and also on the bore before the jug.....LK

Somewhere in one of my toolboxes I have a similar reamer VM Starr made me years ago, along with copies of his notes on choke dimensions and choking original barrels.  There's a piece in Brownell's Gunsmith Kinks Vol 1 IIRC on how he made his tools, and his methods  I can only imagine what he might have done working with a Sunnen like some today.

Imp 8-10,,,,Mod 16-18,,,full 24-26. I have never tried more than 26 as it produces excellent patterns.
