1 1/8 patent breech
« on: September 14, 2024, 07:15:43 PM »
Does anyone know where I might find a 1 1/8” Hawken or British Sporting rifle percussion patent breech? These have apparently disappeared in recent years. I don’t want to make one if I can avoid it. But may have to.

Several options on "The Gun Works" website.
Suzi is the proprietor and can be reached at info@thegunworks.com.  from what I understand, most of what is in stock needs finishing by a 3rd party and thus there's a wait once you make a request.

I believe Rod England is still selling individual parts from his Alexander Henry Sporting gun kits, too.  I believe this is the right email for him.

L & R has Hawken flint & percussion plugs & tangs in 1 1/8" on their website. I have a percussion set that is very nice & actually go together without fitting.

I have a 1-1/4" English style with the standing breach/tang already fitted and soldiered. It was for an 8 bore I was going to make but the customer was forced to cancel the order.
If your barrel is indeed 1-1/8 and no larger it may be too big for your use however.  I'll sell it for $100.

If you are interested PM me and let me know.

OK, I dug into the parts a bit deeper. I do have one RH English breach, with unbent tang (totally straight) and also I have a LH Hawken slant breach and tang.  Both for 1.125" barrels  Both with 3/4-16 threads.

I'd sell then for $80 per set.

I forget to include “straight” not slanted. I gave up and ordered a slant breech. Too late period for the rifle I am building but not going to make one its pain. Thanks for the replys.   Was just hoping……
