Looking for background on an R Goehring rifle

I picked up a rifle a few years ago from a guy in Philadelphia and finally have a name to put with it. Upon cleaning it tonight the side plate fell out and stamped inside was R Goerhing 14. I've done some research and found out it's the late Reaves Goerhing who stamped it. What does this stamping mean? I read he dealt a lot in castings so is this an identifying number for the casting? Did he build this rifle and it's number 14? If he was a rifle maker where was he from? Did he make many rifles? Any and all information is welcomed.

Reaves was one of the early founding members of my club (Lancaster Muzlleloading Rifle Association).  He was a prolific cast parts maker and yes, he did number most parts and associate them with various schools.  He was very knowledgeable of the longrifles and worked for a while as the gunsmith at the Landis Valley Farm Museum outside of Lancaster.  His daughter still goes to shows and sells most of his castings. 
Reaves passed away a few years ago, now.

He numbered his castings. Someone else built this gun using one of his castings.

I used to see Reaves at Friendship and he had a lot of brass castings he made but do not recall him as a gun maker.Sounds like me.Locks and triggers but less than 12 guns.The last 4 were BPCR so that leaves 8 muzzle loaders.......maybe.
Didn't Reaves have a daughter that helped him and sold off the inventory after he passed away?

His daughter still has them cast and continues to sell them.  She does her castings off her current inventory and comes to shows in the east such as Kempton, 18th century artisans fair and others.

Unsigned contemporary longrifles are seldom made by known professionals and usually by hobbyists, making them nearly impossible to identify. But we’d all like to see pictures!

Not the prettiest piece but it's a tac driver. Doc Hadaway lock with Douglas barrell.

That it's a tack driver, is all that counts!

From the pictures, it does look a little rough, around the front of the lock, sort of in line with the direction of the right big toe.
Then a bit rough along the lock molding pretty much in line with the direction of the left big toe as well.
