Thanks for pointing that out. I did either miss it, or forgot I read it (Who me?).

I assume he’s going to use the same breach plug as the stock is inletted for that tang?  Still, and maybe it’s just me, but I try to place the flash hole liner where the threads of the liner just meet the breech.

That’s why the location of the breech was important to me and why I was asking the location.

But since he’s moving forward I’ll comment no further.

Yes, I (we) saw that. But these are all ideas & opinions about how to & why to save the original and that is what the extra posts are about as well.
It's a discussion about fixing a mistake in building.

Replacing the bbl is another way of fixing/solving the problem.
Add to the list and file it away with the rest.

Given where the lock plate is, I still think a longer than normal breechplug should be employed for best ignition and cleaning.

I’m sure someone would buy that barrel, replace the tough hole liner with a plug, and carry on with a build.

It seems everyone is assuming that the barrel vent location is the problem. It could be that the breech plug is 1/2 inch and the vent is perfectly located. It could be that the lock is in the wrong position. You don't have to scrap everything only what is wrong. Without knowing where the face of the plug is and how long it is and it's location to the vent, you cannot know if you have an error in the vent placement or the lock placement. Right now there is nothing wrong with the lock, unless you start grinding on it. The ramrod pipes and side plate are probably ok. Same with all of the other parts of the gun. Scrap only what's wrong and replace only that.

I think most everyone agrees it’s the lock placement and that moving the lock cannot be done without making a recognizable mess.

You are correct, the positioning is fine, intact its at the very bottom of the breech, I'll be using that current barrel for another project, and simply dropping in another green mountain of the same size and caliber! I stepped away a few days and stupidly lost track of the actual punch mark, and finished the gun like no one's business  lol only to go "whoops!"
