Wheellock

Hello
This time I try to make a wheellock
the same scale as the flintlocks.
I show some pictures that gives some pressure to finish it.

Daryl
Thanks for the pictures
Adrie, you are most welcome. This is from Taylor's 17th Century dag and he had to make the lock and all it's parts.
In .40 cal. this pistol has both iron pyrites and flint wheels. Ignition speed was indistinguishable from a cap-lock pistol.
The stock is ebony with silver inlays.

You should convince Taylor to bring it to Cache Creek for the pistol trail.

I look forward to following your progress. Allways wanted to try and make a wheellock but could not find any good 1:1 scale plans. What plans are you using?
Best regards

Hello
Unfortunately I have to reinvent the wheel because the drawing is not quite right.
This is a lot of thinking

Conclusion, better the lock plate thicker and the wheel thinner

Adrie, having watched your work over the past few years, I am convinced that you have miniature fingers and hands, and eyes that would make a microscope weep.

Hello
The chain is riveted.
I am waiting for some taps so I can tap thread in the top of the axle
if I place a pin I will never get it out again.
If the drill bit breaks you have to start acain
In the meantime I am starting to understand the wheellock
NEVER with your finger near a cutter! that is so stupid
