Tom Caster Philadelphia Fowler
« on: November 05, 2024, 10:09:48 PM »
Thrilled to introduce my new smoothbore, crafted by the talented Tom Caster! This beauty is a 15 gauge and is designed to capture the look and feel of a classic 1760’s Philadelphia fowler. Couldn’t be happier with it—ready to take her out for a spin!

It was initially advertised by the seller as a 16 gauge, but calipers indicate its Hoyt barrel to be approximately .680” at the muzzle. Surprise, surprise! Guess she has a little more punch than expected.

Anyone here shoot a 15/16 gauge in competition and give the 20 gauge guys a run for their money? Curious to know what kind of ball/patch combination folks are using. I have a .680 and .662 mold on order.

Thank you! The stock’s cherry wood. I know Tom did a fair amount of toning using a variety of stains and methods.

T. Caster is Tom,  not Bob, even though his full name is Robert Thomas Caster, he never goes by Bob. Seems all the men in the family for 4 generations have gone by their middle name.

Thanks Tom, I was wondering how the "Subject" line changed to "Re: Bob Caster Philadelphia Fowler" above, odd.

I hope you’ll forgive me, everyone. I had a childhood friend named Bob Castor, and ever since, I’ve been hung up on the name “Bob.” Doesn’t help matters that I typically post late at night when the kids are asleep and I’m running on mental fumes.

As a result, I occasionally slip up and mistakenly refer to Tom as Bob.
