English half stock flintlock rifle rib

Hi   is the ramrod rib inlet into the horn tip
        or just tight to the horn??

I have original examples of the rib inleted into the tip, and sitting forward of the tip. They are never in contact with the tip. There is always about a 1/16th of an inch clearansce. I'll post some photos later.
