After carefully enlarging Marc's target and Alacran's target and drawing in dead center, I concluded that they were essentially tied on the center bull. However, Alacran's other shot into the cross is about half a vertical block closer tp the dead center than Marc's. This makes Alacran's 25 still in first place.

Good shooting. Who's next out there? The clock is running!  ;D

It's been snowing and blowing and cold ie minus 20 but today was a wee bit warmer with a lot less wind,  so I got to try a target,  I still have more printed so hope to try again tomorrow [ maybe with the matchlock ! ]     This is my 20 bore , from a rest , both elbows firmly planted and with enough outer cloths on to really steady things  ;D
100 gr FFg, .610 ball, blanket wad lubed with bear grease
One of the shots hit off the target....you can see it on the cardboard backing.

Bob,
I really appreciate your getting out in those kind of temperatures and, on top of everything, shooting like that from a 20 bore! I  just cannot imagine temperatures like that, let alone trying to shoot. I make the score as a 25. Alacran still holds the lead , so if you get another chance, go for it. If you shoot again, please zoom in on the target, as it will sure help these 81-year-old eyes.

Folks, if Bob can get out in those temps, surely there are others, and I sure would like to hear from you.

We still can't get into our range. The road/bank of snow blocking the entrance is now about 3' or more high and solid ice.

Good grief, Daryl! I was hoping that you and Taylor would be able to get to the range. Just in case we get an entry from out west,   I'll wait until later to officially declare a winner.

'fraid that isn't going to happen. Snowing and blowing here, all day.

Well, it warmed up a tad, but is threatening snow, so I got the butt moving after lunch and got this target done.  50 yards, same rest as the 20 bore, this one shot with my matchlock .75 bore. 100 gr 2F Goex, .735 ball and paper wadding.
I need to use this more and find a load it really likes , even though the match ignition does present another variable.  Anyway, it's shooting low. Sure is fun, though !

Bob, .75 is a cannon and matchlock no less! Now those holes I can see! Thanks for getting out again and stay warm.

Congratulations to Alacran, winner of the January ALR postal match! My thanks to all of the shooters that were able to participate despite January's deep freeze and to those of you who wanted to get to the range but circumstances just didn't permit it. Time to look forward to what Alacran has in mind for February and get some shooting done.
