WM TURVEY SCREW BARREL PISTOL, 1715-1735
« on: January 08, 2025, 06:52:14 PM »
For sale is a Queen Anne screw barrel pistol made by William Turvey, a highly respected London master gunsmith. It was likely made between 1715-1735. This pistol has seen use but not abuse, and shows honest wear and shows the wonderful, deep patina of 300 years. The name on the lock plate is partial, but Turvey’s “WT” and Fleur-de-Lis barrel stamp (used until about 1742) is clear. The bore is about .62 caliber and shows oxidation. The barrel lug for screwing is worn, the main spring is weak, the tang screw is likely a replacement, and the trigger guard is dented and has an old repair (shown). Those issues aside, it is a respectable pistol that reflects the early 18th century. $1,300. PM for further information.
