Recently completed sets

Here are a few sets I recently completed.
The first has an Art DeCamp horn and a Larry Callahan patch knife.

The second has a Pete Hutton 4th gen york county horn copy. The bag is a split bag (internal divider)

Yes very nice outfits ! Interesting strap attachment method on the second bag. It appears it would help reinforce the bag in that particular area. Thanks for sharing.

They are good looking bags.  The use of a slot & notched tab for attaching the straps to the powder horn on the second set is interesting.

I have been curious about the forward strap staple. How are these held secure so as to not pull out?

 When I do staples like that I raise small burrs on the lower legs to keep it in place. Once hammered in you would have to destroy the horn to get them out, I tried once. And yes the staple is nothing more than a "Keeper" to hold the strap in place or set it up for Right or Left carry. Depending on the placement it can move the way the horn is carried, in toward the body or twisted out a bit.
 I think the Pic is of a modern strap attached wrong on an old horn. Which looks to me to be a Bottle Turned Tip Lancaster Pa. horn.

Agree with Tim on strap attachment.  Staple just keeps strap from sliding. Originals will show wear area under staple from strap. On screw tips, you can also use a longer leg on staple and bend the legs over inside the horn. Take tip off and use narrow flat tip screwdriver or punch to fold legs to keep from pulling out. The first horn by Art is a north georgia banded horn. Great looking sets

Very nice bags!!  The first thing I look at is the stitching detail and yours is very good.  Nice and straight.  Wanting to up my game, I took a class with Frank Willis and the one thing he beats into you is making straight stitches.  It appears you have that down!
