Cameo Powder Horn

I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the high quality identified Rev War cameo horn in another post. I’ve had this one for several years now and I thought I’d share some pictures of it. The panel has three initials (JRC) and other designs on it and there are designs near the plug. Not fancy, but I like the simplicity of it.

It's an honest piece of work; a product of both the time and materials available to the maker and his talents as well.  Obviously a well used powder horn.  I love the carry wear pattern, evidenced by the scalloping of the horn material along the leading edge between the nails on the outside of the horn.  Somebody cared about this horn.
