Would either of you fellows be thinking of producing a lock like the one shown below? It is design for a rebated breech, also eliminating the safety would keep the cost down. I’m sure the demand would be much lower than the German flintlock or the new lock by Jim for the Hawken but I’m sure you could ask and get a premium price.

I have made several locks in this category from castings furnished by the customer.I don't remember where they came from.I made my own internal parts that are very similar to these.Someone on his forum may be able to help you.

Not me.  It would be fun, but as mentioned the demand wouldn't be that great.  Development is pretty pricy and we've found it best to focus on designs where there is strong demand.

Like Henry Ford.He made an affordable car and then the big V12 Lincoln on the other end.The flintlocks I made similar to those shown were paired and as far as I know,never used.I stopped lock making in 2019 and am still able but my wife has health issues and recently she fell in the laundry room and she did not have her pocket phone but I was in the house and had to call the fire department to get help getting her up.

Hi Richard,
You can get castings for almost that exact lock from TRS.  Eric Von Aschwege made a recessed breech Manton lock from TRS parts and it is beautiful.  I bought it from him and haven't used it yet.

Thanks Dave. I have the lock plate and French cock from TRS which I guess I’m going to have to complete. Time is getting to be a precious commodity and was hoping to get one finished. Interesting, I was just visiting another sight and was looking at the English rifle tutorial that you posted…carving, wire inletting etc. you do absolutely beautiful work, so inspiring and such a pleasure to see. Thanks!
