What a bunch of old fat guys pretending to be soldiers?

It counts as a great time to me!!  Wish I could still do it.  Have fun!
It is a great way to remember and educate one's self on our history.  Not enough ogf that happening anymore.

For safety's sake I hope those bayonets are made of rubber like the ones in the "Patriot" I saw wobbling when they were running.

I see some muskets failing to manifest their charge.

And, they're about to be captured by that lot of Red Coats sneaking up directly behind them!
Let's face it, @!*% cheeky of that lot doing something like that...

I'd say it counts... waistlines notwithstanding

I enjoyed the pictures. Nothing like that occurs in my area.

It seems to me that most of the reenactors I have seen are on the wrong side of 50. I believe that part of the reason is most younger people haven't been taught any real history. Also, they can't get their nose out of their smart? phone. Their teachers seem to believe that America before their time was bad and the teachers job is to set the young people on the right pat to some form of diet communism. Enough ranting.

two of my gggggrandfathers, who were blue coats,  were in that battle.  one was a two months past his 20th birthday, the other was 25 years old.  i suspect quite a lot were similar in age.

Thanks for the several nice comments! Our unit fielded 30, some joining the Brits to bolster their umbers. We (2nd NC Regt) had 8 new recruits from a High School and this was their first battle. They are excited and all continuing on with this hobby! Our members are growing as are those in other units. I would say that easily 70% of the reenactors under 50, making me feel old!
Interesting that all participants this year were not allowed to have facial hair in keeping with the style of the time.
It’s a fun and exciting way to expose the public to living history, both in camp and on the battlefield.

At our annual Victorian era shoot, we after the three opening volleys had a bayonet charge.
No rubber bayonets.  Seems some of us are past running these days!

Stuffed sacks suspended were the targets.

If you watch Gettysburg, there are a lot of them to be seen.  At least no 45-70 Trapdoors!

No running for me, for about 6 months.( ???)
I get a new knee on April 9th.
PS - I found out last summer that jumping off a boat's bow onto the dock in now a no/no. Almost knocked 3 people into the lake when my knees gave out,
the 2015 one and the one getting replaced next month. LOL  Sometimes the mind creates demands the body no longer can produce.

Silly you! 45-70’s were flintlocks! Haven’t you ever watched the Daniel Boone series on TV?
