SMR Browning

  Would Browning be okay for a Kibler SMR, or would another finish be more suitable, or HC?

For the life of me I cannot locate it in my books again, but I saw an image of a late 18th Century ad from a gunmaker in Wilmington NC. He was looking for curly maple, and offered both blue and brown metal finishing.  The two finishes existed at the same time. The fascination to me is that there was a gunmaker on the coast, where it was so much easier to buy an imported gun.  God bless, Marc

I just got done refinishing an early Kibler SMR.  I browned the barrel and furniture.  I did the lock in an indigo heat blue.  The wood is a refresh of oil over scrubbed back old varnish with added stain.   It is quite striking.
