My Shooting Rig
« on: January 18, 2010, 06:57:12 PM »

This is in responce to requests to give a bit more info. on this bag/horn set up. Let me say right up front I DID NOT MAKE THE BAG!!! Its way nicer than the bags I make. In fact other than the horn, I didn't do any of it.
The bag was made for me by William Funkhouser. When I ordered the bag , my only requests were that It not look home spun and not have any type of button(just personal preferences) and be set up to ware right sided. I could not have been more thrilled with the outcome. The bag measures 8" across the top and 8" measured down the center of the bag. It has a web the measures 3/4 in at the top corners and 1-1/2 " at the bottom. The brass buckle is imported from England and has a hand forged iron tongue. There is a pocket approx. 5" wide by 3"deep stitched to the insdie of the back panel.  The bag is made of vegetable tanned leather and the whelps are dear hide. He incorporated a Hand forged knife made by a local friend(Tuffy)that has a molded sheath and is laced to the strap and can be moved. It is a beautiful rig(I still think the horn is too big)and it works very well. I tried to address all the questions here , if there are more ill do my best to answer them.
 Thanks for the complements!

That is a great looking set. Nice job on the horn and I do not think it is to big for the bag.
Just out of curiosity how long is the bag/strap combination form the top of the strap to the bottom of the bag?

 Thanks, Tim C.

Scott,

As I noted previously on a different thread, that is quite a handsome rig.  Thanks for taking the time to post a few extra pictures, dimensions and descriptions of your bag.

The bag/strap length as you see it hanging in the picture is approx. 31-32"from the nail it's hanging on to the bottom of the bag. The buckle strap is 20" and the adjust strap is 38" long. I ware it high so there is a good bit of adjustment left.

Scott, I don't think the horn is too big for the bag either.  And I also like the bag.  Nice rig indeed.
