William Holtzworth (-1837). gunsmith. From 1815 through 1830, William Holtzworth was taxed as a gunsmith in Lancaster city. In 1831 he was taxed as a carpenter and in 1832 as a joiner. He was not listed after 1831 in Lancaster city. [tax]. William Holtzworth worked in Adams County from about 1831 until he died in 1837.  The estate papers of a William Holtzworth fshow a gunsmith shop on his property in downtown Gettysburg. This would be now 116 -122 Chambersburg Street. There were gunsmith tools in the estate. His shop was rented out in 1841 by James Glocher a Philadelphia lock maker who was in Gettysburg a few years only. There is an ad in the paper that says Golcher is taking up the Holtzworth place in town. Holtzworth is buried in Gettysburg’s Evergreen Cemetery
