I've looked for this info, but have not come across it yet. I'd be surprised if it hasn't been discussed here multiple times. What style of muzzleloading rifle did he use and what caliber ?

Interesting for sure ! I honestly wasn't sure if it would even be a percussion rifle in the back country there. That certainly is a well used rifle......the way they should be !
