I've always used an exacto knife for cutting in of incised and relief carving. I generally take the blade and make sure the point is not blunt and strop it well. I find that a stiffer blade is much easier to work with and control.
I've noticed that others make modifications to these blades and many have dedicated knives of various profiles for certain jobs.
Does anyone want to expound on the reasoning behind certain modifications / profiles and possibly some discussion of putting them to use?
