Ron's work is always museum quality! He really had an understanding of German art and workmanship!

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

I love the engraving on the buttplate and guard.  I'm asking myself, "could I get there from here?"  it'd be quite a journey; a lifetime pursuit, no guarantees.

What a treat!  Stimulating!!

Notice that the last picture is of a different rifle?  ..a Southern Mountain rifle perhaps?

Yes, that is one of our Early Germanic locks but modified somewhat by Ron.  He used a number of those locks over the years.
Both rifles belonged to a fellow who died.  I was asked to find new homes for them.  The Jaeger has a new home, the 32 cal. Tenn. rifle is still here looking for a home.

Better open the patchbox, there's probably a Snikers bar in there.

Yes I noticed. The muzzle on Ron's gun has engraved in script "use blackpowder only" in German.

Ron Ehlert was quite an inspiration for a lot of people, self included. I was always hoping to meet him in person.

This is a lovely rifle. A symphony of design and materials. Thank you, Ron.
