A contemparary interpretation of a VA rifle of the 1780's. B wt. .50 Rice barrel. The wrist is substantially wider than high and I admit there's a little Woodbury in it as far as style goes.

I always look forward to seeing the latest Bill. That appears to be a silver gorget your Indian is wearing. Great little detail!

You always have just the right amount of carving and engraving for my taste. Never overdone.

I guess we know what will be on the table at Lewisburg this year. It will be nice to see it up close and personal. Woodbury in the style? I don't see any pieces that were fabricated from a 1939 DeSoto fender, I even notice a little ageing abound the lock, sideplate wrist and under the cheekpiece. Shipman, you better watch it or you will fall into the pit and go over to the dark side. Really nice work and great engraving.

Bill, I like every thing about it. Your engraving is tops for me, border work shows an engravers skill level for me and that roping looks super clean. I like the mix of relief and incised carving also. Tremendous work.

Fabulous rifle Bill. I'm encouraged, having now seen this rifle and it's colour, with one I'm just finishing up. I was afraid the colour was too light on my rifle, but now I know it's fine.
I admire your contemporary approach to the patch box, while still keeping the historical flavour. Superlative work!

I see a lot more Haymaker than Woodbury! Of course, there's a lot of Haymaker in Woodbury.
Absolutely first class work! I like the slimmed down early Ketland, the sideplate and the (handmade?) triggers.

Thanks all for the kind comments. Bruce, it's a 44". I generaly prefer the 44" because it sets the front and rear sight at closer to the same heigth. The 42" ers need a higher front sight. Gary, it's all a square graver.

Really fine work! I especially like the patchbox. Yep, there's definitely a hint of Woodbury in that rifle.
