Breech Plug

Does it make any difference, if the breech plug is flat faced or concave?
Better burning features flat or concave?

All of the guns that I have made, they have flat face breech plugs.
I thought somebody may have some proof, of definite advantage, to "CONCAVE" breech plugs.

I've never seen convex.  Seems it would leave the edges full of fouling.

I'm sure he means Concave.
I finish my plugs flat.  The vent is as close as I can get to that face.  I have a pair of Staudenmeyer barrels - 15 bore - that have concave plugs.  The English seemed to like 'em.

i have read the concave face gives a little more velocity, but i also read where someone proved that wrong. it might be in some of larry pletchers testing. if so, maybe he will jump in with the particulars.   mark
