What is the sense in having a Bedford that isn't a percussion with the wild hammer they used?  Looks like a coversion, at that.

It appears from the comb to the front of the lock has been replaced. I have never seen the raised area to the front of the lock terminate with a point (on a Bedford), the triggers look to be from huntingdon. Has anyone seen a flint era rifle from Amos and Border?

Looks like Amos Border with a christian cross between Amos   Border.  Wrist looks very square and clubby.  Crude contemporary, perhaps?

Does not look like any Amos & Border or any Andrew Baker rifles that I have seen. Obviously this gun has some issues and is not a classic Bedford. I don't believe this rifle was originally flint. The patchbox side finials appear to be replaced. And several other things don't "look right" about this rifle. It has been for sale online for some time.

For a compare to rifle look at:  http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/6545693

The close-up lock photo shows three screws that are modern made on a "love machine", sear screw, sear spring screw and tumbler/cock screw. Cock is investment cast.

In my ever-so-humble opinion as a metallurgist involved in some manner of manufacturing since JFK was having fun in the White House pool. Also been messing with modern muzzle-loaders since Ike was on his way out.

Can't say about the rest of the gun but I am older than that lock.

The Mid February auction. I searched "kentucky" and a pair of guns came up with an estimate of $1200 FOR "BOTH."
