NEW POCKET FIRE KIT
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:26:54 AM »
I needed one of these for myself and decided to experiment. I made this one 1/4" wider, and 1/4" higher. I made the striker wider, with a curved face. The curved face seems to produce a bit more spark, and the small increase in size makes them easier to get into, and repack. See what you think. The pouch is 2 3/4" x 2 3/4". A small change, but it makes a marked difference in use. Much more in heigth, and they would be difficult to hold while striking.

Wick,
I think it is a great looking outfit. The size seems as though it would be fairly easy to hold onto, unless you had catchers mits for hands. Are you going to sell any or be selfish and keep them to yourself?

Also for small hands.  I used this type to teach 4th graders - keeps their knuckles farther from the flint.  Mine was not nearly as well made as this.  Elegant workmanship, Wick.

Really well done, are you going to sell any of these?    Dennis
