Mike,
I really like your rifle on the blog today.  It has a nice sleek flowing look to it.  I'm not sure I can warm up to the trigger guard.  That's different.  AND as much as I hate to say this to someone, that is one great looking piece of wood.

Mike....yeah, I kinda like that gun, sort of a long Jager, nicely done.   I have only one bone to pick with you on it, something that is kind of a pet peeve with me.    You got lazy with the triggers.   It's almost like putting Ted Cash thimbles on a gun without any modification.   Right off, you can see those Davis triggers.   I would have modified that front trigger into a straight, pin type trigger, and perhaps would have put a little curve into the rear one, would have done
a lot, just to make it look different.   Nontheless, I like your creativity in doing the gun, keep it up.   I miss you guy, been

I wouldn't wish that piece of wood on anybody! !@*%&@ hardest piece I have ever worked. Ruined my back for three weeks on it. It was worth all the effort though, It's a real stunner in person.
 I like the guard, in fact I just bought an old 1750's german 1/2 stock fowler with a very similar guard...now that style of guard IS startling on a fowler!
 In fact I like the guard so well and the way it handles so well that I plan to use those big jeager open bow guards on a few more early colonial euro influenced projects.
 I don't know who posted that gun on the blog...it says I did, but it wasn't me....unless I forgot I did it or something....

I was pretty well wore out by the time came to do something with the triggers. I agree a little modification there would have been nice.
 Yep, it's been quite a while since we sat and shot the bull. I need to get back out east and do a show so I can split a hotel room with you and John like the good ol days. Been meaning to give you a call, just haven't sat down to do it. Been busy selling the house.....might have that accomplished!

Some of you newbies might think I was "picking" on Mike.   We go back a long way, have been frineds for many, many
years.   Back in the good old days at Friendship, when the booths were still open in the evenings, the guys from the primative area would come over and do their shopping.  Mike used to walk into my booth in all his grandeur, his big black
hat with one side of the brim turned up and a large feather in it, and usually carrying one of his almost black Jager rifles.
Sure would be fun to be able to re-live those days..............Don

Don, I think the DOlittle manufacturing Co needs to make a comeback. I'll be the west coast rep. I think there is a real need and demand for ash hole grease hole kits to satisfy the recent demand for So. rifles. Pete Allan once came into my tipi over there in no mans land and has never been right since. Still talking to himself! Poor guy! HI Pete! HA HA!!!!! Who's that Brooks guy, must be a youngster.! Jim Chambers came uo with a couple products too as I remember. Getting senile though. Hash is trying to keep 2 steps ahead of the snow.
