Roger,  Check out the Hershel House rifle now on the Contemporary Makers blog.  Hershel showed me a gun of his with this type of treatment at the toe of the buttplate before.  I asked if he had seen this on originals.  He said he had seen a few but had no idea whether it was done by the maker or if over time with use.

That toe extension of the plate will be cut back and I'm going with a toeplate notch fitted in to the butt plate.   She will still have a slight curl towards the stock at the toe which is fairly pleasing to at least my eye. She's fitted quite well (so far)! ::)

I think it's pretty cool looking Roger.  Tell us more about your southern rifle.  I can't wait to see it when it is done.

Well thank you, actually I can't wait til it's done either... ::)  I will treat her like a lady should be treated, slowly and with much patience, hoping she will cooperate ;D
