Horn With Single Band//Couple Of HCH Pics Added
« on: March 18, 2010, 01:16:46 AM »
I hope this horn has not been here before, I do not think it has. I've got so many flippin' horns and horn pics it's not funny. When my PC crashed back in Jan I lost all my records. Anyway...
This one is about 11" around the outside curve. The Walnut base is held in with six wooden pegs. The horn tip is pinned on with two steel pins. The horn band is also pinned on with two steel pins, I try and make them as inconspicuous as possible. AF was used for color.
Just noticed the oxidation on the base at the staple, it is cleaned up now.

I like it.  That is pretty much like the screw tip horn I am working on now.

I love it Tim, especially the tip treatment.  Great looking color too.

Ps, did you go to the HCH annual?

Good looking horn, Tim. It looks kind of like a Virginia piece with that single, centered band and the bulbous base plug. Nice stuff.

Are you going to the Williamsburg Show? If so, I will see you there.

I really like those single banded horns best. I fear I will be on the bandwagon soon for one of these.

Thanks for pics Tim and as soon as I get my single band horn done I'll post a picture.  Still have to turn the antler and a base plug ala Virginia style like one in Grinsdale's book.
