I used to shoot black and grey squirrels in Southern Ontario from age about 7 or 8 or so, onward - back yard as well as out on some farms. Ate lots of squirrels in those days. I suspect the local variety here might taste like a nice green spruce cone, or pile of needles. They are protected for the trappers, thus cannot shoot them - which is just as fine, they are inedible, I've heard.
