Robby, that’s a little beauty!  Fine work, your daughter must be proud every time she takes it out!

It is walnut and darker that the picture would suggest.

Here's mine - a Tip Curtis Lancaster in .32, 36" straight Green Mountain barrel. It's my first muzzleloader. I got it yesterday, and fired it for the first time this morning. In the afternoon I took it to the field. We don't have much in the the way of tree squirrels where I live, but plenty of ground squirrels.

.40 Cal Flintlock that I picked up this past spring.  (Seller told me Jim Webb was the gunsmith that made it, but the barrel is unsigned. Doesn't bother me a bit. She is a beautiful, working rifle.
The target was 30 yds away, 1st two shots actually "keyholed" 3rd shot had a ever so slight hangfire, but still probably dropped the critter for the skillet.
Only used 25 gr FFF, that lonnnng 46" barrel makes the most of gas pressure!

This is a 36 cal GN barrel, 42".
Cherry stock from my friends tree.
Yet to claim a squirrel with it but I have it hitting pretty good now and should pile em' up this fall.
Gonna make a qt of pickeled squirrel hearts!

She started out as a Jack Garner .36 but I had Bobby Hoyt make it into a much better .40 w/ radius groove rifling.

Anyone build a squirrel rifle not here yet?

Here’s mine...it’s a .36x42” Green Mountain barrel, L&R Late English lock I got from Stoner Creek, and a set of Dennis’ Gillespie hardware. Nothin’ fancy, just a 7 pound nutcracker.

Nothing fancy Greg?  She's a beauty.  I am guessing you already figured out that those GM barrels are tack drivers and not fussy.  I have a swamped GM .50 barrel set back in the safe until I rise to the top of my friend's "build list".  God Bless,   Marc

Thanks Marc.  I’ve used a lot of Green Mountain barrels, mostly on my 19th century cartridge rifles, and I really like them. It’s a shame they don’t make the swamped muzzleloader barrels anymore. I have a 44” .50 swamped sitting in a corner, for “build after next”...but first, a 16 gauge fowler.

GM barrels are accurate, that's for sure.  I have a "C" weight .40 GM barreled rifle.  A tad "weighty" but not all that bad since the swamp helps it balance so smoothly.
