Looks a lot like a Kibler kit. Nice job.

Dennis,
It is jims smr kit. I added a horn toe plate and muzzle cap. I figured it would be a great place to start for a first build. I enjoyed it and i learned a lot.

The nose cap for that rifle is a challenge due to the size of the wood you have to work with. I have made several and hated to start on each one of them.

Here is my very amateurish attempt at a rifle built from some old parts I found when moving into my new shop. It is pretty simple and utilitarian. Not the best workmanship but it shoots. Barrel is an old
Douglas. 15/16 A F. .40 cal. Davis Jäger lock. Horn and pouch are also my own creation. Not a copy of anything in particular. Just wanted something kind of "Jägerische".  Pleasant to carry in the woods. Definitely not a "long" rifle.

Love looking at all the fine rifles posted here. Thank you!!!

Great pics!  This thread, and the "plan n perdy" are my two favorites, so many beautiful rifles.  I have a .40 in the works, I will have to be patient for something to show.

Squirrelasaurus Rex.  But not that tough, apparently, since he died from a foot wound.

Actually I intentionally went out with the smoothbore that day so I could take a photo of an Abert squirrel that still had its head attached.

Lower end of spectrum but I am proud to own it and it is a squirrel getter. No squirrels today but will post some action shots of it this week.

Cherokee's were nice little rifles (kind of a Renegade version of a Seneca). I had one for a while and killed quite a few squirrels with it too. Wish I still had it. Mine was an early one, like yours, before they went to single triggers. Thanks for sharing!  ;)

Yep and an easy little gun to carry around all day if I ever have a flint gun built I am going to have it built to the same dimensions. I have three of these in .32 all in excellent condition one that has never been fired with a beautiful pristine barrel, stock and lock. The other two I alternate between when target shooting and hunting. I recently purchased a factory 32 Seneca and when I get it sighted in and a load developed I am going to sell the unfired gun and a couple others to help fund my first flintlock. Also have a factory 36 barrel and a 32 being re-bored to 40 by Bobby Hoyt and a couple 45 barrels for the Cherokee .

From the Silvies River Shoot. .40 caliber SMR built by Jim Kibler. Correct horn by Scott Morrison. Anyone can have a great shooting rifle. Anyone can have a great looking rifle. Anyone can have fine accessories, but when they all come together it is something special.

Thanks for the photo alacran. It brought back lots of good memories.

I've hunted most everything the west has to offer, but I have to say Abert's Squirrel is my favorite. Haven’t hunted them for 25 years, but hopefully next fall...
