I didn't go through all 35 pages to see if I had posted before but I don't think so. This is a .32 I built in the 90s with a Ron Griffie barrel, walnut stock.

This is a .36 I built in 2023 with an H&H barrel, Dixie lock tuned by Brad Emig. I guess it could be a squirrel rifle. The ball is pretty small.  I had the parts lying around since the late 80s and finally got around to building it hence the new old stock H&H barrel.

My percussion 32 squirrel rifle. Super accurate, does not get used much anymore as the kids are grown and gone. Shot many a whistle pig with this rifle.

Anyone have a new squirrel rifle to show? Must be some of us working to finish a pretty rifle for this coming season.

I finished this one last May. Not a copy of any original, just plain and simple shooter.

The cherry stock is from a blank that had been drying for decades. One light coat of Old English furniture polish and several coats of Minwax tung oil finish. It’s gradually getting darker.

The barrel is an “A” wt, 38” long and .38 caliber from Charles Burton.

The lock is a late Ketland from Jim Kibler.

Davis DST.

I made the TG, BP, PB, nose cap and rod pipes.

Bowkill,

I posted this rifle on the gun -building forum a while ago, but here is the patch-box.

Engraving is rubbish as I found out my eyes needed work when I was doing this one.   :-)

Takes a .425" ball and I rifled it 1 turn in 45".

Pukka, I'm having a hard time progressing through this page because this gun is so fantastic. I love that patchbox

Here's a rifle (.45 Virginia by Graig Osborne) and a squirrel that I bagged a few weeks ago. I usually carry a fowler (rodenter?) but in this case i brought a rifle.  This particular woodlot has an outstanding squirrel population.
Cheers,
R

HighUintas,

Glad you like the old gun!

I'd surely like to see your mountains!
They sound unique, going more east-west then all the other mountain chains!

They are my favorite mountain range. Here's where I elk hunt every October. I haven't humped my .58 "squirrel" rifle back there yet. I'm at about 11,500ft in that picture. The round ball would fly a little farther up there!!

Nice bit of country-side, but looks too warm for me.

I'd read about it, and looked at pictures and was astounded that such country existed in Utah!  (Being ignorant  as I am!)

Lovely country!!
