So... I been looking for a 36 squirreler. I spend 3 hours of a rainy day looking at this thread. Kinda feels like I been looking at someone else's honeymoon pictures (and I don't mean the beach pics lol).
There is not one ugly shooter in the bunch. WOW curves and lines!
My conclusion.. I need a .36 AND a shower  ;)

Just finished this Tenn .40, haven't shot it yet.

Update;

I shot the rifle and it did very well off the bench, the first 2 shots were touching at 25 yards, and yes, I have a much better shooting bench now than I had in the picture.

Okay Okay, it's too nasty to go paddle this morning (for smallies in tight water) and I don't have any boat building materials collected yet.

SO I'm going to the rifle bench where a 30, 36, and 40 wait patiently.  Walnut, Cherry, and Ash are their respective woods.  TN the style all.  Roller locks for the 30 and 40-as they are to round out my personal "collection".

The squirrel population here is showing some rebound after two bad years of mast production and the fuzzy tail nut cutters going practically extinct locally...and now I have a Feist just crazy to get after them.  Here we go.

Gun was made by a member of ALR.  If he recognizes it I'll let him chime in.  Nice little "youth-sized" .32.  We named it H.O.S. for "He!! On Squirrels" because if it touches them they drop.  First squirrel my sone ever shot with that gun he gut-shot, and it dropped dead right there.  I've never seen that happen before.  Usually with a .22 they scurry into a knothole to die.  That just hasn't happened with this gun.  Ian with squirrel by frozenfrizzen, on Flickr

That young man is doing it right, Black Jaque.  Most of my guns are youth size as well.  I've shot squirrels in the midsection with .32s and had the same results.  For squirrels the .32 leaves any .22 rimfire in the dust.

Eric - your shooting bench REALLY sucks - big time.  That beautiful rifle deserves a better bench, however, seems you might not need it to prove that rifle.
both of my sights along with the target are now blurry- I find a wide quite flat V with a bead helps. The ball hits in the middle of the fuzzy bead and the rear sight does not fuzz up as badly as a narrow V, U or square rear notch.

I agree about my bench, I have used it for years, works great, but... I ordered the big foldable Herter's bench form Cabela's the other day. I wish I had ordered one years ago, very nice but a little heavy. I put it on my tractor's front end loader to haul it up to the field I shoot in.

I think one explanation for dropping in their tracks is "blunt force trauma"

The bbl is sinking into the Ash.  I'll have a 40 in a month or two methinks.  And squirrels have returned to the highlands.

My NEW .36 (rice bl.) Squirrel Rifle - Durr's Egg lock by LC Rice.
Man- what a sparker it is now- Taylor re-hardened and tempered the frizzen. HUGE difference. It wasn't bad before, but hugely impressive now.
This is the same gun - same pictures as my .32 - it simply has a new barrel and since it looks identical to when it wore the .32 barrel, the pictures are not new ones.  ;D

I previously posted a Photobucket link to my Squirrel rifle. Apologies for that...I've found that site essentially UN-useable and thanks to the discussion in Over the Back Fence regarding alternatives to Photobucket, I am FINALLY able to post an actual picture of MY Squirrel Rifle. This 40 cal. SMR was built for me by Mike Davis in 2015. 42" swamped Rice bbl. and Chambers lock.

With a good rest, even my old eyes can get her to shoot. Here's a 50 yd. target I shot while working up a load, before any sight adjustments were done.  One shot got out of the group on me. I put a quarter on the target for reference.

Good target, Don.  Quite sure I can't do that any more - maybe those days are now now gone.
