Does anyone know if Joseph Scorsone is still actively building rifles? I have had one for a number of years and handled a few others that I thought were very well done. Not having heard anything of him in some time, I wondered if he was still around.

I haven't seen Joe in many years.  He made some real neat rifles in his day.    If I can recall correctly, he had a son that died and it really knocked him for a loop, had a difficult time to recover from the tragedy.  Maybe Jim Chambers will chime
in here, he might  know something about Joe..............Don

Joe works in Asheville, NC as an optomologist.  I see him fairly frequently.  He hopes to retire from that business in the next few years and get back to doing some gun work.  Joe was one of the very top builders in the 70's and 80's, and will be again if he ever gets back to building.  In his spare time Joe is a long distance runner.  On his 50th birthday he ran 50 miles, on his 60th...yep, he ran 60 miles.....I can't even imagine running even 2 miles.
