Everyone needs a Sign
« on: March 31, 2010, 08:54:57 PM »
This came in the post on Monday.  It was done by Andy Walker of the Colonial Sign Co.  Andy and I spent a lot of time trading ideas.  The lock area is of the John Schneider Mar.19th 1776 rifle.  I thought that rifle appropriate as John was my GGGGrandfather.

Great idea and sign.  I'll have to make one for me to attach to the top of my mailbox.

Unfortunately for me, most of the time, it's...."here's your sign"

Nice,
Where will it hang and is it single or double sided?
It would look good swinging from an elevated sign post

I would like a nice sign like that.  Unfortunately, i don't know what business I would put on it.  I do so many things.

This sign is single sided.  I'll hang it in my shop and in our booth at Friendship when I'm there in the spring and on a bracket on my table at CLA.  I had thought about putting it over the door of my shop but don't want to invite the local break and enter crowd to visit.

Mark,

Lots of colonial signs didn't really specify business types.  I wanted a pictorial trade sign but look at Andy's site http://colonialamericansigncompany.com/tavern.html?cPath=23  lots of neat pictorial ideas with no clear trade specified.

If you are like at least one member, you could hang it in your livingroom AND over your workbench.  ;D

Nice sign.

I am an artist and have dabbled in colonial signage... I love the whimsy and folk art aspect of this art... very nice.
