If a relative newcomer to the bag making trade were looking for the best books on the subject to add to his library, what would they be?

"Recreating the 18th Century Hunting Pouch" by T. C. Albert, "The Kentucky Rifle Hunting Pouch" by Madison Grant. The Accoutrements series (I, II, and III) has a few pouches in it.

Yes...study the Blog...its a fantastic resource! One of the very best available.
 
In my opinion you will see more there in a few hours of looking than a guy used to see in years and years ...after you see all of the styles and looks, you can zero in on what you want, and the construction details on the bag photos there should help make learning to make your own bags a bit easier too....might save you from spending hours and hours reinventing the wheel so to speak.
