I've had a smoothbore build in the queue since last fall and once I realized there was no way I could count on it being ready for spring 2010 turkey seson, I just "let go of it" and made other plans...the only assumption I've made is that it should be completed in 2010 and it'll show up when it shows up.
My two build experiences are why I was so elated to have recently found the like new .45cal Dickert completed and ready to go...the caliber, and GM/Siler/Davis/Brass components were all what I wanted in a smaller caliber Virginia I had planned to order next, but the Dickert style is close enough.
AND...the individual happend to be my same size and when he'd had it built, it was built with a longer 14" LOP and the same drop specs that I use.
Learned my lesson...I'll take a good quality 'this is what I would have ordered' lightly used Flintlock over all the wait time of a new build any day...couldn't have found it without the Internet.
