Well here is my new to me virgina smoothrifle.Built by Bobby Christain. Its a 62 cal with a 36" barrel, jug choked full by Danny Cawood. Going to the range with it tomarrow to shoot shot and ball down her. With the shorter barrel it sure handles sweet. Should be great in the woods.

Looks like a real handy hunting gun.  I'll wager you'll have to take some off the back sight to get the ball from going over the target.

Got a pretty high front sight, Tayor, but we've found much elevation isn't needed at the breech shen using tapered barrels.  My front sight stands about 1/2 that height, but rear sighting has to be taked flush with the breech.  With any height to the eye over the rear of the barrel, the shot would go very high. It's already over an inch high at 30 yards now.

I think that looks real good and that is the load I use. Except, I use no. 6's. But, the 5's in that pattern will get it done just fine.
