I feel sorta like Punxatawny Phil poking my head out of the shop after winter, but I'm coming out with a new rifle at least. :) .50, 42" Colerain B weight, Chambers siler lock, sugar maple stock, just a generally Maryland styled rifle. This one is going, soon, to a buddy's 16 year old son who's just finishing his eagle scout work. Boy has seen it in progress when he's been here hunting with us, but never knew it was going to be his. Still gotta finish aging some of the brass and inlays, but the light was great for taking pics...

Considering only one to two percent of all scouts ever succeed in making to Eagle. It's definitely a fitting gift. As a long time scouter I applaud your effort, and his. God bless! BJH

You've captured so much of the Maryland flavour in this rifle. Congrats on a winter well spent.

There's a lot to like about this rifle. In my opinion, of course, it really looks 'right' for a a gun of that time period. Good job.

I don't know a whole lot about MD rifles, but what I do know sure does show up on that rifle. You really nailed it, to my eye.
I'm with Mark- I never got a present like that either!!

Don't you just get hand cramps doing all the pierce workings on a PB like that!!! ;)
Nice aging, and a very nice gun.....that fallen will love it
-
That rifle is just beautiful, and I love those Colerain "B" weight barrels...powerful yet very light and slender.
-
Very very nice. Are you still on the Eastern Shore or did you move west?
Curt

Thanks all!
It gets better, too. I think the boy and his Dad are both going to start coming to club shoots and I KNOW he'll want to kill a deer with it next fall. ;)
Curt, I'm still here on the Shore. Day before March and it's a balmy 15 degrees. It should be 60 with ospreys starting to show up, but it's still frozen with loads of geese and canvasbacks in the cove.
-
Great looking rifle! Like the finish.
-
Great looking rifle, really nice lines, no doubt about its origin, You did a fine job on all.
