Many of you guessed it--we are using our CNC experience and combining it with Jim's carving skill to offer the only carved flintlock kit available. I will get right into the details.
The introductory add-on price is $375. It is an option on the online store or customers can call or email Bree with an order info@kiblerslongrifles.com or 330-551-5844. www.kiblerslongrifles.com
It is only available on the Woodsunner kit and is only available while it is being made (unfortunately, we can't carve stocks once that have been removed from the machine).
We have one design currently available although this will definitely grow and change over time and we will develop new variants. Jim will tweak the design as time goes on. As we come up with new models, Jim will design a carving (or more) for these. You can still get the kit un-carved, although you can't pick and choose elements of the carving that you want or "design your own".

Thanks Jim.

This is a lot to take in, thank you for sharing your efforts, experience, and vision with us.
I like the idea of migrating this to other new products. Looking forward to the Fowler, too.

Intrigued by the future offering of a simpler, less adorned relief carved version.

Ditto.

Cool beans man. That could be turned into raised relief carving PDQ.

Great stuff ! and Doggies too!

Just Love it!!
I will likely go with the more simple carved Woodsrunner,(but who knows, once i see the simple one, i may find i prefure the current!)
And would enjoy a Fancy carved Fowler + Silver when ever it happens! (Just my personal preferance is simple rifles and fancy scatter guns) All this will have to wait till i get in my new home, just trying to get my 1 tiny vote in early! :D

That is Awesome, thanks for sharing Jim!

Nice!

Is your CNC limited to incise carving or will you be, or are you, experimenting with raised carving in the future?

Incised carving works very well with the design and manufacturing process. Raised carving can be done as well, but in some ways is more difficult. I have plans for some relief work pretty soon, though. It’s going to be pretty cool, at least I think.
The Fowler we have in the works will have proper shell and lock molding relief carving.

Carving looks well but is it there to catch the buyer and does it help the gun shoot better at the end of the day it is just a repro .Give me a original sxs by an English maker built by old craftsmen with no carving which still shoots well after 200 years of use .

Wondering how long before thread derailment.... :o
(Very cool work and I'll be even more interested to see how potential raised carving turns out. Popcorn ready!)

What a comment. None of the decorations helps shooting better. Not at originals, not at reproductions, no matter if hand crafted or machine assisted made.
It's just a good opportunity for people not able to carve like Michelangelo to get a nice looking gun.

To the negative people. Jim Kibler is a hard working individual. Why some of you bash what he is trying to do for the muzzle loading community is Pathetic.... Oldtravler

Better file all that trashy engaving of of those guns, it doesn't help them shoot any better. ::)

Jim, can you share any info or teasers on where the Fowler kit is currently at? Thanks!

How about some teasers on the Hawken kit?

I need more popcorn. And beer.

I’m sure the future will be relief carving combined with the current “incised” carving. Then we will see steel CNC engraving like your name on a barrel flat but what I want to know now is where to get that cool “ Flintlock “ “T” shirt.
Cheers Richard

I'm waiting for the government to mandate Electric flintlocks by 2030 to save the planet. Oh, now I'm in trouble!

Pretty amazing computer work Jim. Truly it is very cool stuff, But please don't take offense... I like your hand work better... K

I congratulate Jim and his crew on producing the finest production muzzleloaders ever made! And at a fair price, also. The option of fine looking carving adds to the already impressive looks and quality found in the Kibler line. Wish I could afford to buy all of the models and variations. Someday these will be sought after collector items and will only increase in value.
I hate to see the ridiculous negative comments that pop up on these posts. Why? I don’t see comments like these about Pedersolis and other production guns. Is it jealousy? Fear of the unknown? Criticisms are fine if constructive and legitimate, but these people just seem to be making offhand remarks that they just don’t like the idea behind Jim’s rifles.
Looking forward to more and better offerings from Jim in the future. I believe it will only be good for the muzzleloading community.

Now if only I could use a computer to help me succeed as a marksman. ;D

First let me first say while I knew this was a natural progression in your kits I must say I amazed by the level of quality you've achieved.Haveing shared a bench with you I've always enjoyed seeing your work and am impressed with the diversity of your skills.I can't wait to see your next act.
As to the "dust up" over these kits which I missed out on due to being at an event at Ft Loudon in Pa I know of really no full time custom builder who are threatened by these kits. To the contrary most of us who have a multi year backlogge to our work welcome them. I sent many folks to both Jim's and Chambers websites' this weekend to newcomers who want to the into the blackpowder game and can;t afford or wait for a rifle from myself or one of the other custom builders.Nothing worse than telling an excited newconer he has to wait for X amount of years to get started. With out those options these folks might never get started. I also met a guy who's done 3 of Jim's kits and now is going to attempt a scratch build this winter. He might never of done that without the confidence he got from doing Jims kits.People who order a gun from me or one of the other custom builders are looking to purchase a piece of "our" work.....it's a personal thing they want not only a gun but they want something I or the other custom builders made.I hunt with a Bill Shipman gun,I wanted it because Bill made it and we are friends.I don't think that dynamic will ever change .
As to the charge that Jim is in this for the money (while we all need money to live) having spent some time with Jim I can assure you that he's in this for the challenge and to push his talents to the next level..........I look forward to seeing where he goes next!!!!!!

Thanks for this post, it tells my own personal feelings about Jim and his premium products perfectly!

Thanks to everyone for the support. There have been some really great posts and I couldn’t have said things better myself. I think change and new things are sometimes hard, but time normalizes things.
I really do believe there is a place for everyone who wants to be part of all this. I agree with you Mitch, the professional, well respected longrifle builders have been very supportive. For that matter, most others have as well.
So, thanks to those who have had my back😉. Sure do appreciate it. Also, I’ll be finishing one of these carved guns this week. I’ll share some pictures when it’s done.
