Peep or aperture sight

Doc Carlson at Upper Missouri Trading Post, Croft, Nebraska,  has that sight.  I bought one from him two years ago.

I agree!  Is it a shooting or a vision competition?  I use a 3/8" disc of black electrical tape with a 1/16" hole in the centre, stuck onto my shooting glasses.  It enables me to see the top edge of my rear sight more clearly, and as a consequence, all my rifles now are shooting high.  That tells me how poorly I was seeing my rear sight prior to the vision enhancer.

Interesting- That I shot low with your sights prior to you using the disk, shows I buried the blade further than you. Guess the very top of all the fuzz is actually the top of the rear sight.

I have modified my standard buckhorn sight to reflect the design above. It is a little cluttered, but enhances the sighting experience:
