Since no one has mentioned it yet.   I thought I would note that our own young Eric earned the Best of Show ribbon at Dixon's yesterday for his fine little pistol.    Congratulations Eric!

When you pick something up!! and and it feels and looks Right. You know you have a winner.
The form and fit was excellent.  Often a lot of the attendees overlook the case in the Judging Garage???
for the past 25 years the cabinet has displayed Original rifles and pistols. they are there for a reason!!! to Give new builders the chance to see the original works ,that were tyring to replicate correctly.
Too often most walk by ???
There's is as much Study about a gun your to build,  as there is to construction!!! in order to do this correctly a builder needs to see original work in hand...
The Best of Show Pistol Maker has Done this!!!! And was awarded so!!!!

Very talented. If he could have entered his Beck rifle, that would have won. Then he would have had best pistol, best rifle and best of show.

There is a video on youtube on the Dixon Gunmakers Fair 2014.  There is also a video for 2013 too.

Beautiful rifles, horns, bags, etc.

Outstanding pistol.Looks like a fine antique that has lain dormant for a very long time.
I saw some of these yesterday at the Huntington (WV)Museum of Art.

THAT is what a pistol should look like.  So...what's next for a young guy who can so
masterfully create things?  Seems he could make anything he wants.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Bob, I need to get back down there. I could spend about all day in that display. Ain't but about a half hour drive for me, just don't have the time. By the way Eric, that is a real nice piece!

Anything? That might be a stretch... right now I'm finishing up a very petite North Carolina/East Tennessee rifle that is a bit of a fun/fantasy piece, then I've got a Kuntz rifle based on the two in the Metropolitan museum for a client.  Not sure what's coming after that, another Beck or maybe a Schreyer.  Oh, definitely a big early Neihart sometime soon.

Eric,
Those sound like great projects and I cannot wait to see how you handle them.  It was great meeting you at Dixon's and come visit me in VT, when you finally orchestrate your move to back east.
