Sighting in Mikey's new/old rifle.
« on: November 05, 2020, 09:41:12 PM »
Well I got time to sight in my Rock Island Brooks rifle.  It dialed right in.  I must have done something wrong.  ;)  Each time I filed the front sight the group came up.

Now to give it a go offhand.  Deer season opens in 2wks.

Really nice rifle - nice progression of groups on the target.
How about the postal match??
Load, Calibre, Lube, Range?

I just pulled the load out pf the air from past experience.  I used 85gr. of 2F, a .526 ball, .020 canvas patch, and #9 Plus lube. Because it was running low, I added some cleaner to the lube for the last 4 shots.  50yds. off the bench.  Late Ketland lock with a special order Getz barrel.  I think Mike said it was built in 2005 or so.

Now that looks to be a very fine rifle, EC.

Can we see more photos at some point?
I presume it's a .54?
I too find balls a little below the average size work V well.
In my Don Getz barreled Chambers 'Mark Silver', in .58, I use a .562" and the results are great.

Grand results you are getting!

Cool!  I was hoping these were 50yard targets.
Good shooting.
