I have to apologize.  You guys are correct.  The standard three cornered files have to be 60 degrees.
And me, an old draftsman at that.  But the right triangle argument brought back my memory.
(0 +45+45 = 180  devided by three is 60 degrees.

Guess I is just gonna have to be more careful using my home made safe sided file.
Sorry if I caused any cornfusion, but thats what I asked.

If it helps, I got my dovetail file out of a hobby store because I noticed it had a finer edge on the triangle, being smaller. I ground the safe side and found, especially with a cold chisel, I could get the metal right and with some eyeball could get the wood patchbox lid exact.
